Program: 3rd year Forensic Anthropology Specialist
Hometown: Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago
Why did I choose UTM: I chose UTM specifically for my program as we offer the most advanced Forensics Program in Canada. Additionally, the location and overall vibe of the campus was enticing to me as its not in the heart of a big city but more on the outskirts.
What are you involved in on campus:
• Executive member of Caribbean Connections
•UTM Library Ambassador
•Forensic Science Society (IVNVI)
•ISMP Peer Mentor
•Volunteer Notetaker ( Accessibility Services)
I am a pro on this UTM topic: Good food on campus.
A course you succeeded at/most interesting course you’ve taken at UTM? The most interesting course I've taken is actually a course I am doing currently. It's called FSC316 Forensic Anatomy.
What is your favourite event you’ve attended at UTM? The club that I am apart of, Caribbean Connections hosted a Caribbean Heritage Expo in 2024. This event showcased a lineup of performances, including dance, singing, and speeches from consulates representing different Caribbean countries. This event made me feel empowered as a West Indian and allowed to connect with other of the same background.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to prospective students about studying at UTM? Join clubs! This is the best way in my opinion to make lifelong friends. When you join clubs you're able to meet people with similar interests to you.
What are your future aspirations after you graduate? After I graduate, I hope to either attend law school in Canada or pursue my masters in forensic science. I'm highly interested in both fields so I'm excited to see which route I end up taking.
