IMI is pleased to support the hiring needs of diverse organizations through our Programs.  Each IMI Program has dedicated employer relationship and student placement staff, available to assist with your hiring needs.

IMI Programs offer both co-op and internship hiring, as well as full-time recruitment from all of our professional programs.  Each Program also offers a full suite of hiring support services including:

  • Job development, posting and circulation
  • Application collection and distribution
  • Scheduling and coordination of interviews
  • Support throughout the onboarding process
  • Support at the mid-point and throughout the work-placement term for coop and internship students as well as host employers
  • Hosting customized recruitment events, including information sessions, fairs, networking sessions and more

Funding

IMI is pleased to provide a list of funding organizations that may be able to support you in hiring a student or new graduate.  We strive to keep this list updated on a regular basis.  Please also feel welcome to check with specific Programs for funding ideas relating to your individual sector or industry.

Project Learning Tree Canada (Interns & New Grads)

  • We offer a 50% or 80% wage match, with up to $32,000 CAD in reimbursements, to employers hiring youth aged 15-30 into Green Jobs. A Green Job is one that supports nature-based solutions for a more sustainable planet. Green jobs are typically involved in, but not limited to, jobs in the forest sector, parks, conservation, natural resource management, environmental education, sustainable food systems, climate change, carbon sequestration, species maintenance and recovery, water quality and quantity, and more.

MITACS

ECO Canada

  • Will cover up to 70% of a student’s wages up to $7,500 when employers hire in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math and Business. Work terms can be full-time or part-time and last from 6-16 weeks. Additional funding available for employer who hires from one of the following groups: Women in STEM, indigenous people, persons with Disabilities or newcomers to Canada

Canada Summer Jobs

  • The program provides wage subsidies to employers from not-for-profit organizations, the public-sector, and private sector organizations with 50 or fewer full-time employees, to create quality summer work experiences for young people aged 15 to 30 years. Not-for-profit employers are eligible to receive funding for up to 100% of the provincial or territorial minimum hourly wage. Public and private sector employers are eligible to receive funding for up to 50% of the provincial or territorial minimum hourly wage.

Ontario Centre for Excellence-Talent Edge Internship Program

  • Funding for students who work in industry-driven research and development projects. Must have clear R& D activities and deliverables to be completed during internship. Funding starts at $10,000.

Canada Ontario Job Grant

  • The Canada-Ontario Job Grant provides direct financial support to individual employers or employer consortia who wish to purchase training for their employees. It is available to small, medium and large businesses with a plan to deliver short-term training to existing and new employees

Connect Canada Internships

  • Supports the hiring of an intern in any research field, including natural sciences, engineering, economy, social science, health, environment and ethics. The company will tap into the intern’s skillset in order to solve an R&D problem over a 4-6 month project.The company’s $5,000 investment is matched by a $5,000 contribution from Connect Canada, providing total funding of $10,000 to the intern.
