Technophiles and entrepreneurs of all stripes from across the GTA will have the chance to let their creativity run free at this year’s Tech + The City one-day hack event on Saturday October 21st.

Co-hosted by the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM), tech savvy teams will be converging at the Innovation Complex located on the UTM campus where they will be pitching solutions that will empower the City of Mississauga to re-imagine its future and cultivate a vibrant community.

“This year’s theme of ‘Building a Connected and Engaged City’ combines the power of technology with innovative ideas that connect the City to its institutions and businesses with solutions that will increase efficiency, reduce costs, foster a more sustainable environment and cultivate communities where people thrive,” said Donna Heslin, director of graduate programs and external relations at the Institute for Innovation & Management.

At the end of the event, each team will present to a panel of judges and peers for a chance to win several prizes including sponsored accelerator program enrollment (ICUBE UTM, RIC Centre, SOTI Inc.) and one Google Home unit per winning team member.

“We will also have mentors from the RIC Centre and from ICUBE supporting the event and making sure that the teams are getting some mentoring from real entrepreneurs,” said Heslin.

Registration closes on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 5:00 P.M.
