The Inside Track - Employers

Help students understand where the labour market is heading. 

The Inside Track is an employer-led panel that connects organizations with second-, and third-year University of Toronto Mississauga Co-op Internship students early in their career development. 

Participating employer representatives will share current labour market trends, in-demand skills, hiring outlooks, and practical advice to help students better understand workplace expectations. 

By participating, your organization can build early brand awareness, introduce students to your industry, and help shape how emerging talent prepares for future opportunities. 

Early engagement helps students make stronger career decisions - and helps employers build future talent pipelines. 

The Inside Track gives your organization an opportunity to connect with students before formal recruitment begins. Rather than promoting a specific vacancy, participating employers can introduce students to their industry, share timely labour market knowledge, and help emerging talent understand the skills needed for future success.

The Inside Track is designed for second-, and third-year UTM students at different stages of career exploration. 

You may connect with students who are: 

• Beginning to explore industries and career pathways
• Interested in learning what employers expect
• Preparing for future co-op or internship opportunities
• Developing technical and transferable skills
• Considering how their academic experiences connect to the workplace
• Seeking reliable information about hiring trends and future opportunities 

For second- and third-year students, it provides timely guidance as they begin preparing for co-op, internship, and employment recruitment. 

The Inside Track will be delivered as a moderated employer panel. 

Each representative will have an opportunity to: 

• Introduce their organization and area of expertise
• Respond to facilitated questions
• Share labour market and industry insights
• Offer practical advice to students
• Participate in an open-networking period with students after the moderated panel 

This event is educational and exploratory rather than a formal recruitment fair. Employers are not required to have current vacancies to participate. 

The Experiential Education Unit will provide participating panelists with event information, discussion questions, and logistical details in advance.
