Subject: UTM’s Provostial Review

Dear Members of the UTM Community,

*Apologies for any cross-postings.*

We are writing to mark a significant milestone at UTM: we have the opportunity to define what comes next with UTM's Provostial Review, and, even further, we want to solicit your feedback. We currently have a say at UTM to determine academic priorities for the years ahead that will help advance the vision of our Strategic Framework.

The Provost’s Office has established an exceptional external review team who will be visiting the UTM campus from April 26 to 28, 2023:

  • Ollivier Dyens, Full Professor and Former Deputy Provost, Student Life and Learning, McGill University
  • Linda McKie, Executive Dean, Faculty of Social Science & Public Policy, University of King’s College London
  • Philip Reid, Vice-Provost Academic and Student Affairs, University of Washington

Their upcoming visit will include meetings with a variety of constituencies from our academic and administrative community who will provide the reviewers with the opportunity to hear a wide range of views, both about UTM’s strengths, as well as our areas for improvement.

We also need your participation to enhance the reviewers’ time spent at UTM and ensure they get the full spectrum of what the campus has to offer: we are soliciting your valuable feedback that will provide a frame for UTM’s 2023-28 Academic Plan. Comments and suggestions* from teaching and administrative staff, students, alumni and other members of the UTM community are welcomed. These may be submitted online no later than April 6, 2023.

*NB: Your comments are shared only with the external review team and commissioning officers of the review, which includes the UofT’s Provost and Vice-Provost, Academic Programs, and UTM’s Vice-President and Principal.

For your information, we are including a copy of the terms of reference for the review.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Amrita Daniere, Vice-Principal, Academic and Dean
Alexandra Gillespie, Vice-President and Principal
