Get Hired Fair

Our Get Hired Fair is your opportunity to speak with employers about potential opportunities including internships, summer, part-time, full-time, volunteer and co-op. Positions promoted at the fair include both on and off-campus.

Date: Wednesday, September 23rd, 2026
Time: 10:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. EST
Location: RAWC (Recreation, Athletics and Wellness Centre)

Bring your TCard and drop in at any time!

The Fair will be open from 10:00–10:30 a.m. for students and recent alumni who would benefit from a quieter, less crowded environment or who experience barriers that may impact participation in large networking events. This may include, but is not limited to, students with disabilities, neurodivergent students, Indigenous students, Black students, students who identify as 2SLGBTQ+, and others who feel early access would support their participation.

Students can earn CCR recognition by attending the Get Hired Fair and completing other Career Centre activities before and after the event. Please click here for more details.

Do People Get Hired at the Fair?

While hiring rarely happens in a first conversation with employers, attending the Get Hired Fair can help your application. By being prepared and speaking with the employers in-person, you improve your chances of having your resume read and getting invited to an interview.

Who Can Attend?

The Get Hired Fair is open to all currently registered University of Toronto students and recent graduates (2 years) from all campuses, years, and programs of studies. Please bring your T-Card.

Why Should You Attend?

Employers from a wide variety of industries want to speak with you about their opportunities. Positions promoted include part-time, summer, internships, full-time, volunteer and on-campus.

How to Attend?

No registration is required. Just drop in at any time during the fair with your TCard.

Is there a Dress Code?

While there is no official dress code for the event, we recommend coming in business casual attire to help you make a good impression.

What If I'm a First- or Second-Year Students and/or Don't Have Any Work Experience? Will Any Employers Want to Speak with Me?

Absolutely. While some of the opportunities will require certain types of experience, employers value your skills and abilities and want to speak with you. If you're not sure how to effectively describe your skills to employers, you can attend one of our Networking at the Get Hired Preparation Sessions.

Nervous About Coming to The Fair and Speaking with Employers?

Networking can be nerve-wracking for many of us and the Career Centre is here to support you. In addition to preparing for the event by following the steps below, you can meet with one on one with a Career Counsellor or Employment Strategies before the Get Hired Fair. Consider coming during our early entry period at 10 a.m. as the fair tends to be much quieter during that time. We will also have staff available at the fair and our therapy dog Dino will also be there in a de-stressing space.

How Can You Prepare?

  • Review the list of employers to see what types of opportunities they have.
  • For any employer for which you are interested, visit their website to learn more about them and potential opportunities.
  • Update your resume. Check out the Career Centre’s resume resources for tips on writing a strong document
  • Have your resume critiqued by a Career Centre staff member. You can make an appointment on the CLNx.
  • Prepare and practice your introduction. You can use the Business Introduction and Networking at the Get Hired Fair handout to help you get started. Note: this is not meant to be a script, rather it can be used to give you some possible talking points.
  • Review the Career Fairs Tipsheet
  • Attend the Getting Ready for the Get Hired Fair workshop and drop-ins (September 16th and 22nd)

What Should I Do at the Fair?

  • Bring your T-Card and copies of your resume
  • Come early (if possible) as the fair is typically busier later in the day.
  • Start your discussion with employers with a friendly hello and tell them your name.
  • Do your best to have conversations with the representatives so you can learn from them, and they can learn about you.
  • Make sure that you ask good questions about the organization and the roles. Good questions focus on their insights (not necessarily the basic facts that are available on the job description). There are samples available in the Business Conversation and Networking at the Get Hired Fair handout
  • Remember to ask employers about next steps and get contact information (email or LinkedIn). Follow up within 2 business days, mentioning the discussion you had with them at the fair.
  • Give yourself plenty of time for each booth as many will have line-ups.
  • Take breaks between conversations
  • Stop by the Career Centre booths for support and assistance.
  • Please remember to fill out our evaluation survey to let us know how the fair went for you (and be eligible for some prizes)

What If You Don’t Get the Position/Opportunity You Want By Attending The Fair?

  • Set-up an appointment with a staff member for more personalized support on finding opportunities, building relevant experience and moving towards your career goals
  • We offer workshops on various job search and career related topics
  • Attend networking events
  • Review the postings on CLNx
