We partnered with Forward Food in 2020 to co-host the Forward Food Plant-Based Summit, the first- ever virtual event!

On October 16, 2020, UTM and Humane Society International/Canada hosted the first virtual #ForwardFood2020 leadership summit, which was free to attend.

The Forward Food Leadership Summit aims to bring together food service professionals, industry leaders and others in a peer-to-peer environment, gaining insights into the latest trends in both implementing and marketing plant-based menus.

The 2019 summit was hosted in Peterborough, Ontario and was a huge success. With the current pandemic, the theme for the 2020 summit is “Building a Better, Plant-Forward Food Industry After COVID-19” and discussions were around how to use plant-based foods to create healthier, more sustainable menus.

The summit took place virtually from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm EDT (6:00 am to 1:30 pm PDT) on Friday, October 16, 2020.

Sessions included:

- Eating for Public Health
- Building Your Business Back with Plant-Based
- Foodservice Sustainability in a Post-Pandemic Era
- Looking Forward: A Sustainable Food Future (Panel and Q&A)
And much more!

Speakers included Dr. Neal Barnard from the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, Jay Ashton from Sysco Canada, Janine Windsor from LEAF, Jo-Anne St. Godard from the Recycling Council of Ontario and many more!

Participants enjoyed the opportunity to win delicious plant-based food products and all participants received discounts from some fantastic plant-based vendors!
