Marceau Levin is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Toronto Mississauga under the supervision of Professor Adrien Rannaud. Marceau received his Ph.D. from Université Lumière Lyon 2 and the Université de Sherbrooke in 2023; his dissertation examined the mediatization of contemporary biography during the Second Empire. Grounded in a strong commitment to cultural and literary history, Marceau’s research centers on the intersections between literature, print culture, and the legal and social frameworks that shape public discourse. Broadly speaking, his work is unified by a central concern with the concept of celebrity and the ways it structures narratives, media practices, and public visibility in the nineteenth century. Marceau’s postdoctoral work focuses on writing a cultural history of defamation in nineteenth-century France.
