| It's 1403 and recently crowned Henry IV (having ururped the throne from Rchard II) is already facing down rebellion, discontent, and an unruly son. In these two history plays, Shakespeare follows the two Henries, father and son, as the older comes to recognize who his heir truly is and the younger demonstrates what it takes to be a king: playfulness, guile, a knack for strategy, and a lot of ruthlessness. |
