It is my absolute pleasure to welcome you to University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM), the top university and one of the finest campuses in Canada.
It is a privilege to serve as UTM’s Dean, a role I assumed on July 1, 2023. At UTM, we are home to over 18,600 exceptional students, with 18 separate departments, 7 graduate professional programs, and several research institutes. We are fortunate to embody the goldilocks principle: we are not too big, nor are we too small – striking a balance that our students find to be just right. By maintaining close ties to our communities, both local and global, our academic programming is continually refreshed, and is informed by the research of our world-renowned faculty. Our primary goal: to equip UTM graduates to be engaged global citizens, bringing compassion and boundless analytical potential to whatever they choose to do.
Our outstanding faculty, staff, librarians, and students thrive within our beautiful campus, set adjacent to the Credit River in a park-like environment. With a strong commitment to environmental sustainability, we continue to seek new ways to respect and protect the land that for thousands of years has been the traditional land of Huron-Wendat, the Seneca, and the Mississaugas of the Credit. UTM is a Silver certified institution under the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education's Sustainability Tracking, Assessment, and Rating System (STARS) and we are dedicated to implementing UTM’s Sustainability Strategic Plan by 2030.
UTM is also fully integrated into the City of Mississauga and the Greater Toronto Area through public transit, bike paths and, of course, major roads and highways. UTM has a strong and supportive relationship with Mississauga’s public and private organizations, and this provides our students with many opportunities for community engagement and experiential education.
