Living Learning Communities
What is a Living Learning Community?
A Living Learning Community is the opportunity for a group of students with similar interests to live together in the same residence community alongside an upper year peer mentor (PAL) in their subject of study. These students are enrolled in at least one common course together. During the year, there are a number of opportunities that are made available that supplement what students are learning in their academic program. In addition to the residence fees, LLCs will be charged $200 to fund for various co-curricular programming initiatives.
When a student lives in an LLC they will accomplish the following:
Create an academic network of peers, faculty, and campus support services
Identify an appropriate academic pathway based on career aspirations
Exhibit a growth-oriented attitude that contributes to academic resiliency
Outline UTM’s academic expectations and policies
Demonstrate effective individualized learning strategies
Students must be enrolled in the course requirement for each LLC in the 2021 - 2022 academic year, be in academic good standing, and apply to Residence by the deadlines listed below. In order to remain eligible, students must maintain all residence eligibility requirements. More information on residence eligibility requirements can be found here.
