Technology, Coding and Society (TCS) Major in ICCIT has been approved

It is finally official! The new Technology, Coding and Society (TCS) Major in ICCIT has been approved and ready for students. The new TCS major will prepare you to meet the needs of our rapidly changing society and workforce that are brought on by the emergence of new interactive technologies and by the societal and economic consequences of using these technologies. You will become well-grounded in the cultural and humanistic aspects of designing technology.

What are the admission requirements?
This is a limited enrolment program. Admission is based on academic performance (CGPA) in a minimum of 4.0 credits that must include CCT109H5, CCT110H5 and CCT111H5. Enrolment in this program will be determined annually and is limited to students who have a CGPA of at least 2.4.

What are the program requirements?
The TCS Major requires completion of 8.0 credits including at least 3.5 credits at the 300/400-level. This program must be taken in combination with another major or two minors. Please visit the online

When can I apply to the TCS Major?
Requests to enrol in this new program will be assessed through the same process and timelines used for other UTM subject POSt requests.

We will be welcoming our first cohort of the TCS Major program this Fall 2021. Eligible students who have or anticipate to complete CCT109H5, CCT110H5 and CCT111H5 by the end of this Summer session are encouraged to request for the TCS Major (ERMAJ1040) on ACORN from now until August 27. Decisions will be made in early September through ACORN.
