Volunteer Support Assistant

Accessibility Services is recruiting volunteers to provide on-campus support for students with disabilities.  Volunteers will assist students by:

  • Providing guidance and support with navigating the UTM campus;
  • Offering to push their wheelchair, if requested by the student;
  • Holding doors, especially in hallways and rooms that does not have an accessible door opener;
  • Ensuring accessible furniture (i.e. height adjustable desk) is properly arranged for the student in the classroom or lecture hall;
  • Carrying bags and/or retrieving items from the student’s backpack (if requested)

Letter of Reference
Volunteers who complete their commitments are eligible to receive a reference letter at the end of the term.
