ROPAPP Instructions for Students

Please Note: THE DEADLINE FOR STUDENT SUBMISSIONS HAS BEEN EXTENDED! Student applications will now be accepted until FRIDAY, MARCH 3, 2017 at 11:59pm. The previous deadline was Friday, February 24th, 2017.


HOW TO USE THE ROPAPP  


Projects:

  • A listing of all approved ROP projects can be found under the “Projects” link in the menu bar at the top of the page once you have linked to the ROPAPP.
  • By selecting icon of a folder next to the Supervisor information you will be able to view the project without having to submit an application. 
  • If you wish to apply for a project, select “ icon of a briefcase Add to Briefcase”.  NOTE: Once you have selected a project for your briefcase the system will make note of your selection under “Request Status”. 

NOTE: Projects are listed alphabetically by Project Number. 

NOTE: You have a maximum of five (5) projects that you can apply for; this includes the Summer, Fall, Winter and Fall/Winter sessions combined.

My Briefcase:

  • A listing of all projects selected to your briefcase appears here.  You still have to submit applications for selected projects. 
  • Under “Action” you will find icon of a shopping bag; by selecting this icon you will be prompted to complete and submit an application by including your Cover Letter and Resume (cut and paste) and all other required information. 
  • If you wish to cancel an application, select icon of the letter X in the “Action” section of your briefcase. NOTE: If you cancel an application, even if you have not submitted one notification will be sent to the instructor that the project application has been cancelled.
  • If you are invited to participate in an ROP project you will be required to sign a contract with the instructor.  Select icon of a scroll under "Action" to view the details of the contract.  You will be required to sign the contract if you wish to participate in this project, the instructor will be notified of this and asked to sign as well as the Chair; to view the final signed contract select icon of a scroll with a pen infront of it.

IMPORTANT NOTE: You are permitted to accept only one invitation to participate in a research project per session.  If you are offered an invitation and you sign the contract, you agree to complete the requirements outlined by the instructor.  You will not be permitted to submit additional applications once a contract has been signed.

REMINDER: Be mindful of the session in which the ROP project is being offered.  ROP courses are held during the Summer, Fall, Fall/Winter AND Winter.

NOTE: Once an instructor begins the approvals/refusals process ALL applications for that instructor are locked and you can no longer cancel or make changes to your submitted application.  
 

  • A request to participate in the annual ROP Fair will be made available to all instructors and students at a later date.  This application will appear along with your “Instructor Approved” course.  Select icon of a flag in the “Action” section to submit your application for the ROP Fair. 
  • The status of your application(s) is available under the “Request Status” section of your briefcase. 
  • You will be sent an automated email message once the instructor has either approved or denied your application.
