UTM's hub for humanities and social science research
The Collaborative Research Commons — or, "The Commons" — is a hub for interdisciplinary research in the humanities, arts, and social sciences at UTM located in the Maanjiwe Nendamowinan building (MN3230). To inquire about booking The Commons for your research event, please email us at crc.utm@utoronto.ca.
How to Book the Collaborative Research Commons
The Commons can be booked by emailing us at crc.utm@utoronto.ca. At this time, bookings are only available to faculty and staff in Humanities and Social Science Departments at UTM. For more information, see our detailed Space Use Policy below. All event organizers are responsible for booking their own A/V support and room set up through the UTM Service Portal and their own catering through UTM Catering.
Book I&ITS tech support
To book tech support for your event, please visit the UTM Service Portal. Click on "Information & Instructional Technology Services" then "Browse Services." Under "Audio Visual and Events" click on "Classroom AV and Events" and fill out the "Audio and Visual Services" form.
Book assistance with a particular room setup
To book a room setup, please visit the "Facilities Management and Planning" page under the UTM Service Portal. Under "Request Tables & Chairs" you can request different floor plans for your event to be set up by the moving team. Setups normally are requested for overnight on the night before your event. The moving team is not usually able to assist with room setups in the middle of the day and elaborate setups must be requested for the overnight the day before your event. Facilities may request a floor plan. Please feel free to use and adapt our downloadable floor plans below.
Book catering for your event
Catering can be brought into The Commons and setup inside or directly outside the space in the hallway. Catering can be ordered directly with Conference Services.
