Overview

The CIHR Project Grant Program funds research in the health sciences. This program holds two competitions annually, with deadlines in September and March.

  • Registration deadline: August 12, 2026
  • RSO optional editorial review deadline: August 7, 2026 (notify RSO of intent to submit by July 31)
  • Deadline for optional UTM editorial review*: August 24, 2026
  • MRA deadline: August 31, 2026
  • Application deadline: September 9, 2026, 8:00 p.m. ET
  • Anticipated notice of decision: January 28, 2027
  • Funding start date: April 1, 2027

*Contact grants.ovpri.utm@utoronto.ca for editorial review. Editorial review requests received after the editorial review deadline may be accepted, but applicants will have less time to make revisions prior to the MRA and sponsor deadlines.
