Prerequisite Waivers

We normally don't allow students to join a course without having the required prerequisite(s) (except for some first year courses). Joining a course without a prerequisite means that you probably won't have the necessary background and knowledge needed to complete the course successfully.

However, if you feel that you do have the required background (e.g., from a course taken at another institution), you can request a waiver by completing an online Prerequisite Waiver Request Form at the time you have enrolled in the course and by no later than the first day of classes. Please see the links below to find the specific form for the subject area. Kindly submit one form per course. You will need to submit the form using your email address.

Winter 2024 Courses - Prerequisite Waiver Request Form:

For MAT & STA waivers, students will only receive an email response if their request is denied.

Submission Deadline: **MAT & STA Winter 2024 Prerequisite Waivers are now closed. Summer 2024 Prerequisite Waivers will be opened around mid-March 2024.

The submission will be reviewed by the respective Associate Chair. Note that there is no guarantee of a successful outcome.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Courses with only high school prerequisites (like MAT102H5, first-year calculus courses, or MAT223H5) do not require a prerequisite waiver form. We do not check high school prerequisites for these courses.
