My Research Interests

I am a transport geographer who studies the transport and health of children and youth in cities. For the last decade I have been involved in multidisciplinary research projects focused on the social and environmental correlates and determinants of children’s transportation, active transportation, children’s health and injury, and more recently access to education among disabled children and youth. Some of my collaborators include epidemiologists and clinicians at Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children, and planners with Metrolinx the regional transportation planning agency for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. My former graduate students have found employment in public and private sector transportation planning organizations, and some have gone on to become professors and research analysts.

I participate in the following research clusters:

Geospatial Systems & Geomatics
Urbanization, Transportation & Health
