Experiential Learning Bursaries 2020-21
The Experiential Education Unit (EEU) is pleased to announce that the Office of the Vice-Principal Academic and Dean will be making bursaries available to students enrolled in eligible experiential learning (EL) courses offered over the Summer 2020, Fall 2020, and Winter 2021 academic terms. We hope that the availability of these bursaries will continue to grow interest in and reduce barriers to EL courses by alleviating some of the additional costs incurred by students (such as ancillary fees, equipment, and travel), advancing our goal of making EL opportunities available to all students at UTM.
The EL Bursaries program is facilitated by application and targets students with demonstrated financial need for various reasons, including costs associated with remote EL activities. Bursary amounts are determined by the EEU with respect to the EL activities in each course. Students can apply by completing the EL Bursaries application form available below. Applicants will be notified by e-mail once a decision has been made on their application. Bursaries are expected to be distributed after the course drop date and are contingent upon the applicant’s continued enrolment in the eligible course.
Please direct all questions about the EL Bursaries program to experientialeducation [dot] utm [at] utoronto [dot] ca.
Student Eligibility
Students must meet the following criteria to apply for the EL Bursaries program.
- The student is registered in a degree program with the University of Toronto. (International students and students enrolled in degree programs at other divisions are welcome to apply.)
- The student is able to demonstrate financial need on the EL Bursaries application form.
- The student is enrolled in one or more eligible courses offered over the Summer 2020, Fall 2020, and Winter 2021 terms, as per the list of courses below. Courses marked with an asterisk (*) require participation in a specific activity to be eligible for a bursary.
- The student continues to be enrolled in these eligible course(s) after the drop date.
Students with accessibility concerns are recommended to consult with Accessibility Services on campus to evaluate their needs before applying for an EL Bursary. The EEU will work closely with the Office of the Registrar, Accessibility Services, the Equity & Diversity Office, and the Indigenous Centre to ensure that the EL Bursaries program fulfills the University of Toronto’s pledge to “remove a range of barriers and support our community members in fulfilling their academic, research and employment goals.”
