Beyond the range of TA and RA opportunities offered to all graduate students at CPS, we offer a variety of complementary support to enrich your graduate research experience at UTM.

CPS Departmental Travel Grant


The Department of Chemical and Physical Sciences (CPS) provides graduate students with up to $2,000 annually ($1,700 + $300 supplementary funding from research supervisors)  to support travel to attend and present research results at academic conferences.

CPS Departmental Computer Grant


The Department of Chemical and Physical Sciences (CPS) provides PhD students with one-time funding of $1000 towards purchasing a personal computer.

CPS Teaching Fellowship Program


The Department of Chemical and Physical Sciences (CPS) provides a fellowship of $2500 to develop pedagogical skills by working on original and innovative lectures, tutorials, or new laboratory exercises in undergraduate courses.

CPS Graduate Research Visit Program


With research becoming increasingly international, interdisciplinary, and collaborative, the Department of Chemical and Physical Sciences (CPS) will be providing funding of up to $5,000 ($2,500 from the department with a matching fund of $2,500 from their faculty supervisor) to support research visits to other Canadian or International institutions.

CPS Mentor Café


The CPS Mentor Café program is being established to help new graduate students (MSc and PhD) navigate life at UTM. New graduate students wishing to participate in the program will be matched with a current graduate student volunteer.
