CPS Graduate Awards

In addition to various funding programs, CPS offers below awards - many thanks to our donors Dr. Huguette Cohen and Professor Emeritus Fraser Code and Mrs. Jennifer Code.

Huguette J. Cohen Award

This award was established in 2011 after Dr. Cohen’s passing. She had a PhD in Pharmacy and worked for many years with the Ministry of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada with a focus on molecular aspects of animals and pathogens. She did not use lab space at UTM but worked closely with Prof. Ulli Krull to discuss biosensor directions. She was also active in developing agriculture grants and publishing journal articles and book chapters. The Huguette J. Cohen award is awarded annually to graduate students with an “A” average in the field of analytical/biology/biochemistry and organic chemistry.  Preference is given to registered students at the University of Toronto Mississauga.

Fraser Code PhD Thesis Award

The Fraser Code PhD Thesis Award was established in 2017 by Professor Emeritus Fraser Code and Mrs. Jennifer Code to be awarded to a PhD Candidate within Department of Chemical and Physical Sciences who displays excellence in research as demonstrated in the PhD thesis and oral defense

This award was established by the Department of Chemical and Physical Sciences in 2016 to recognize graduate students and postdoctoral fellows who produce high-quality research papers and publishing in the top-tier publications.

CPS First Paper Highlight

The Department of Chemical and Physical Sciences (CPS) wishes to recognize and celebrate graduate student's major research accomplishments by highlighting their publication around the department. All current graduate students who publish their first lead authored paper while working in a CPS lab under the supervision of CPS faculty member(s) are encourage to participate.
