Networking for Career Success

This workshop is tailored specifically to Masters, Doctoral or Post Doctoral students.

Developing a network through building relationships is a key ingredient to career success, whether entering into academia, industry or government. The most intelligent and talented people still need a network of colleagues who can help them advance throughout their career. This session will focus on developing and maintaining an effective network. Participants will learn the dos and don’ts of networking, how to tailor networking efforts to different work situations, and how to keep a network alive throughout their careers. Throughout the session participants will practice the concepts, receive feedback and improve their performance.

Learning Outcomes

As a result of attending this session, participants will be able to:

  • Identify and articulate a professional introduction, including key strengths relevant to the listener
  • Improve the delivery of the introduction
  • Identify methods to expand and maintain their network
  • Identify strategies for using their network to increase their career success

There is no dress code for this event.
