Program Related Skills

Academic courses in this program provide opportunities to develop the following types of skills. Check out our My Career Centre webpage to learn how to articulate skills you’ve developed in your program to employers and/or academic admissions committees in our Skills from your Academics module (under our ‘Assess Yourself’ section). Make a career counselling or an employment strategy appointment to discuss how you can demonstrate these skills to employers.

  • Creativity: Develop unique artistic language and perspective through linking theoretical knowledge of art and design with hands-on studio practice.
  • Critical Analysis: Develop visual literacy with knowledge of various artistic periods and artworks, as well as understanding issues related to production, dissemination and consumption of media.
  • Cultural Perspective: Critically examine and interpret works of art, architecture, and messages to understand human context across time and regions.
  • Oral / Written Communication: Effectively convey abstract concepts to diverse audiences, in written, verbal and visual formats.
  • Research: Review published work & interpretations and synthesize historical datasets.
