The International Education Centre (IEC) supports international students in navigating their academic, career, and cultural journey in Canada. Services and resources include:  

  • Guidance on locating official Government of Canada websites for information related to immigration programs;
  • Referrals to Citizenship and Immigration Canada websites for immigration application forms; 
  • Questions related to your University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP) coverage;
  • Information and support related to University of Toronto study abroad opportunities;
  • Access to Service Canada resources, such as Social Insurance Number (SIN), Individual Tax Number (ITN), and more;
  • Cultural transition support;
  • Career planning support tailored to international students, including job search strategies, resume building, and interview preparation;
  • Information on work eligibility in Canada, including on-campus and off-campus employment options under a study permit;
  • Support in applying for a co-op work permit, if your program includes a co-op or internship component;
  • Workshops focused on Canadian workplace culture and professional communication skills;
  • Help navigating experiential learning programs such as the Research Opportunity Program (ROP), UTM Abroad, and volunteering opportunities;
  • Guidance on preparing for graduation and applying for the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP);
