TEDx Speaker, Courage Expert, and Embodied Leadership Coach

Born and raised in Saudi Arabia, Amal got into a fixed marriage at the age of 18. In 2013, she filed for divorce, moved to Canada, 24 years old and was fully covered from head to toe. Today, she’s a TEDx speaker, seen on Oprah Daily, named Top 40 Under 40, and featured on Nasdaq as a Woman Leader to Watch.

While completing her management degree at the University of British Columbia, Amal was elected as the first female President of UBCO Students’ Union, then elected as the Campaigns Coordinator for the BC Federation of Students. Through those roles, she was working with both the Provincial and Federal Governments on behalf of BC post-secondary students. Today, as the CEO & Founder of I'm All Courage, she uniquely combines storytelling, research, and her 650+ hours of trauma-informed somatic coaching training into her transformative programs and keynotes.

On any given day, you can find Amal editing her memoir (working title From Burka To Bikini), procrastinating by reading other memoirs, dancing, making Saudi food, and most likely going on hikes or long walks in the forest.

Amal’s story is of overcoming, courage, resilience and high achievement. She brings her exuberance, humour, and experience to inspire her audiences to dream big, faces their fears, and live their lives wholeheartedly.

Come Seek Discomfort

Photo of Ahmad Jabbir

When: November 2, 2022 @7:30pm
Where: IB 110

Over the past 9 years, Ahmad Jabbir has been on a journey to stretch himself outside of his comfort zone. This includes reading 100 thoughtful books in 5 years to improve his English, journaling for 700 consecutive days to change his mindset, and delivering a TEDx Talk on "Why You Should Pursue Social Discomfort." Currently, he works at his dream job with the apparel brand Seek Discomfort, owned by Yes Theory, a channel with almost 8 million subscribers.

Growing up, Ahmad Jabbir was bullied for being the only Arab-Canadian in his school. He felt isolated and hated his identity. This changed after he launched his 100 Humans Project during the pandemic, where he virtually met 100 strangers one-on-one from 89 cities and 45 countries.  Through hearing their stories, he learned the power of connecting with others whether they are similar or different.

As a Keynote Speaker, his passion is to encourage us to appreciate our diversity, and to also cultivate a sense of empathy for how we're similar. He is an advocate for making others feel included through empathy and celebrating the uniqueness of their cultural identity.Ahmad will inspire you to feel proud of who you are and how you can connect with others from all walks of life.
