A specialist in the visual culture and social history of ancient Rome, Lisa Trentin’s research interests focus on the representation of the body, particularly marginalized bodies (“Others”) and the ways in which identity is constructed through the body. Much of her research has concentrated on deformed and disabled bodies, and most intensely on the body of the hunchback. She has published numerous articles and book chapters, as well as a monograph titled: The Hunchback in Hellenistic and Roman Art (2015). She has also published an adult coloring book on Classical Sculpture in Color (2017).
Lisa has served as the President of the Women’s Network for the Classical Association of Canada (2015-2017) as well as the President of the Ontario Classical Association (2012-2015).
