CPS Outreach Media Content Creator

Purpose

Highly-motivated and detail-oriented student pursuing a graduate or undergraduate degree is sought for to help develop digital outreach contents for the Department of Chemical and Physical Sciences. The successful applicant will assist in creating digital contents, such as featured alumni profiles for display on the CPS website and short presentations for various outreach events.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct surveys and short interviews with CPS alumni
  • Occasionally shoot photography to post or create motion graphics or short videos
  • Prepare well-structured blog posts and profiles (text and digital content)
  • Edit and proofread written pieces before publication
  • Create short PowerPoint or Keynote presentations for various outreach events (AST/CHM/ERS/PHY)
  • Promote content on CPS website and social networks (Instagram, Twitter, etc.) and monitor engagement (e.g. comments and shares)

Qualifications & Skills

  • Excellent writing and editing skills in English
  • Experience with optimizing photos and other media for web proper use and storage of media assets, design templates, standards, and style sheets
  • Experience with managing social media accounts (Instagram, Twitter, etc.)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point) in day-to-day activity.
  • Familiarity with AODA and WCAG accessibility principles and standards
  • Excellent organizational skills (ability to set and meet deadlines, multi-task)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to communicate in a clear and precise manner, both verbally and in writing, with a diverse team including CPS faculty and staff and the IT Department

Term of Contract

  • Work period: May 23rd, 2022 to August 21st, 2022
  • Approximately 8 hours (1 day) per week, up to 96 hours; flexible work hours
  • Hourly rate: $28
