Bio
Mitan graduated on the Dean’s Honour from the University of Waterloo with a BA in Honours Psychology and a Minor in Philosophy. He subsequently studied a year of natural sciences, again placing on the Dean’s Honour List. He was drawn to social psychology and philosophy for their data-driven and methodological approach to breaking down complex questions. He enjoys integrating knowledge from management, business, social sciences, and natural sciences to execute creative solutions. He is passionate about working with organizations that leverage emerging technologies to drive social and environmental change and has had the opportunity to help scale various early-stage ventures within these fields.
Mitan is currently finishing his Product Management Internship at a social tech company that is changing the way people and organizations connect, while increasing social capital for struggling minority groups. He has previously developed and led initiatives to increase skier representation among minority groups with the Canadian Ski Council and implemented renewable energy campaigns within developing nations. He is most driven when drawing on diverse disciplines and outside-the-box thinking to address complex sustainability challenges.
Mitan is known for his expansive curiosity, spending much of his free time reading non-fiction, keeping up with emerging technology, or binge-watching documentaries. He enjoys working in multidisciplinary teams and learning from people from diverse experiential backgrounds. He also loves staying active with friends and family through nature hikes and long bike rides.
