Bio

Annabelle Bartos graduated from the University of Toronto in 2023 with an Honours Bachelor of Science degree, double majoring in Environmental Science and Physical and Environmental Geography, with a Certificate in Sustainability.  She demonstrates a passion for learning about environmental issues, and has dedicated much of her time to studying how the environment responds to growing pressures.  Her curiosity and drive propel her to look at issues of sustainability in a new way and propose innovative solutions.

Throughout her undergraduate career, Annabelle has undertaken several research projects, and internships.  Holding a Research Fellowship in the Department of Geography at UofT in the summer of 2021, Annabelle was able to gain hands-on experience analyzing the particle size of soil samples, and research the historical erosion of Sauble Beach.  In her third year, Annabelle conducted a research project which analyzed chemical additives in coca cola bottles, and presented this research at UofT’s Arts and Science Student Union Undergraduate Research Conference in January of 2023.  In the summer of 2022 and 2023, Annabelle held research trainee internships in the City of Toronto’s Solid Waste division, with the Environmental Health and Safety Compliance Unit, and the Policy and Planning Unit.  She was able to see first-hand how waste management incorporates sustainable practices and abides by environmental law.  With other notable experience in the service and retail industry, Annabelle has a well-rounded perspective on the many sustainability issues presented in the modern world, and looks forward to contributing to solutions.

In her spare time, Annabelle loves to be doing anything outside, and spend time with friends and family.  She often walks, runs, and plays softball in the summer, and skates in the winter.  She picked up embroidery during the pandemic, and likes to spend her time creating new patterns.  Annabelle thrives in social environments, and always looks forward to meeting new people.
