Bio

Megha graduated from the National Institute of Fashion Technology, India, with a Bachelor of Fashion Technology, majoring in Apparel Production. During her undergrad, she discovered her keen interest in Operations and Management in the Garment Industry. She worked on optimizing the operations of the shop floor through digital intervention as a part of the experiential learning program. She conducted research on the Optimization of Maintenance operations and Lead Time reduction of the sewing department. She tried to improve the Lead Time by introducing CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) on the shop floor.

Megha began her career by applying her knowledge in the Marks & Spencer Shirts production facility in Bangalore, where she was hired as the Production Executive, for improving the process and conditions of the facility by presenting viable solutions. She realized that she wanted to understand the business and the entire supply chain structure of the industry, from the front-end to back-end Retail Operations. She joined Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited as a Senior Product Executive in the Product Management division of the Allen Solly Men’s wear brand. She handled the product business of the brand, starting from the Development and Execution of Product Strategy and Pricing Strategy to Strategizing the seasonal plans with Design and Sourcing Teams to Digital Trade Show Management to Analyzing the sell-through of the season and developing execution plans for all Retail channels including EBO, MBO, E-com (Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra) and Trade. She also handled the production operations of her category based on her previous experience in Manufacturing.

Her diverse experience in the Retail and Manufacturing sectors of the Fashion Industry led her to realize that the industry’s major issues arise from its complex supply chains. She realized that with the race for instant gratification for the customers and more profit for the brands, there was a huge cost that was being paid by the environment and the low-wage workers of the factories. She identified that the transition to Sustainable Fashion has to come through every step of the supply chain and developing a circular economy. Her experience indicated that while a corporate career in Product Management for Brands was quite fulfilling, she wanted to expand her horizon by dealing with some of the crucial problems of the industry such as the growing GHG Emissions that precariously lead to Climate and Sustainability issues.

Outside of her studies, Megha has also been a Gold Medalist in Dance and Street Plays at her Annual Intercollege Fests. Apart from work, she enjoys cooking and baking and posting healthy food recipes on her Instagram. She is also fascinated by a variety of subjects such as Mythology and Anthropology and loves to read and accumulate knowledge of Ancient Hinduism, broadening her ideas on spirituality.
