Staff Award for Community & Partnership Development Winners

Dr. Louis Busch

In the past year as the Special Projects Officer, Indigenous Curriculum and Pedagogies, Louis has demonstrated exceptional initiative and leadership towards developing pedagogical partnerships amongst faculty and staff across several departments at UTM. These partnerships showcase Louis’s commitment and dedication to supporting the development of sustainable Indigenous pedagogical approaches to undergraduate education. Louis also provides curriculum development support and pedagogical consultations to a wide range of academic units and programs across UTM on a regular and ongoing basis. Some of the departments he has worked with include the Departments of Biology, Philosophy, Political Science, Sociology, Management, Geography, Geomatics and Environment, and Mathematical & Computational Sciences, the Institute for Management & Innovation and the Centre for Child Development, Mental Health, and Policy, as well as specialized programs in Earth Sciences (Chemical & Physical Sciences) and Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies (Historical Studies).

Jessica Bailey, Graduate Student Support Strategist

Jessica's dedication to supporting the growing graduate student community at UTM and the initiative she has taken to build relationships across the tri-campuses that have strengthened ISUP/RGASC’s visibility among graduate students made her the ideal fit for the Staff Award for Community Partnership Development. Her work requires building and maintaining relationships across UofT campuses. Recently, Jessica redesigned the Program for Accessing Research and Training (PART) to ensure that graduate students had an opportunity to gain teaching experience. She did this while ensuring that students received the training and support they required for success. For these reasons, she was most deserving of this year's award.
