Lin Li holds a PhD in Rhetoric and Writing from Virginia Tech. She specializes in multilingual writing pedagogy and writing center pedagogy. Drawing on her experiences teaching across Chinese and U.S. educational contexts and her experience as an international graduate student, her current research develops a rhetorical translation framework to support multilingual writers in reworking meaning for new audiences and rhetorical situations across languages and cultures. Her work has appeared in WLN: A Journal of Writing Center Scholarship and the Journal of Literature and Art Studies.

In her teaching, Lin draws on translingual and rhetorical translation approaches to develop students’ rhetorical agency. She is particularly interested in helping students recognize the knowledge and experiences they bring to the classroom and develop rhetorical flexibility across different academic and communicative contexts.

In her spare time, Lin enjoys the charm and calm brought by Chinese calligraphy and paintings. Her fine-brush bird-and-flower paintings were exhibited in Ginza, Tokyo, Japan in 2008.
