Language Studies

Sahar Taghipour completed her PhD in linguistics at the University of Toronto. Her main area of research is in syntax and morphology and their interface in clausal and nominal domains. In the clausal domain, she has explored the nuanced microvariations of ergative patterns across several understudied languages and dialects from the Iranian language family. Her research extends to exploring the interaction between ergativity and other phenomena including argument structure and the distribution of the domains of syntactic computation (aka phases) in these languages and beyond. Her research in the nominal domain has been primarily focused on definiteness and nominal linkers. Working with Professor Kahnemuyipour, she will expand her research further on case and agreement patterns in a wide range of Iranian languages.
