Adriana comes to the Robert Gillespie Academic Skills Centre with over 18 years of academic teaching experience at UTM. Adriana has a Ph.D. in Italian Studies from the University of Toronto and has taught numerous courses in the Department of Language Studies, as well as taking on curriculum development, experiential learning, and curriculum mapping responsibilities. Within these roles, Adriana has encouraged and supported the implementation of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles to improve program planning activities that better serve a learning environment aiming to be accessible and conducive for all. She works with staff and faculty to help support their efforts to move beyond AODA compliance to foster a learning environment that actively removes barriers, rendering our classrooms more empathetic, transparent, and inclusive.
