Skip Elsheimer of the AV Geek Archive to speak at U of T on October 5th and 6th

Skip Elsheimer of the AV Geek Archive (Raleigh, NC) will be at Innis/CSI on the evening of the 5th and at UTM in the daytime on the 6th. Elsheimer is the man behind North Carolina’s AV Geeks archive, a resource comprising 36,000 reels of 16mm films rescued from dumpsters and estates. He is an integral part of Found Footage Fest and Home Movie Day and works to digitize and archive attic treasures from around the world.

Recent DVS Graduate Produces Short Film “Short Drop"

“Short Drop”, a new short film from director and writer Romario Reyes, was produced by recent DVS graduate Mary-Rebekah Reyes. Reyes, who graduated from Art and Art History HBA in 2023 also has a degree from Sheridan. The film – which functions in the mode of horror-thriller – addresses both Trinbagonian folklore and the male gaze. In the film, a young woman who has attended a party is waiting for a taxi late at night.

The most recent issue of the academic journal Differences (Duke University Press) was co-edited by Art & Art History professor John Paul Ricco together with Jacques Khalip. The issue, titled “Syntax of Thought: Reading Leo Bersani” features essays by 35 contributors and covers nearly every aspect of Bersani’s wide-ranging career.
