Cluster: Environmental Processes and Change in Natural Systems

In the Environmental Processes and Change in Natural Systems research cluster we focus primarily on physical geography, examining both the biological systems and physical aspects of the natural environment.

Through the use of field studies and laboratory analysis, we examine the processes and changes occurring within the environment on varying temporal scales, with research locations ranging from the circum-polar arctic, through the boreal forests, to the wetlands and grasslands of the temperate regions. Specific research fields include ecohydrology, biogeochemistry, remote sensing, environmental change, northern environments and physical processes related to water and climate.

This cluster hosts a growing Arctic Research Group exploring natural system responses to climate change through various biogeochemical, cryospheric, and paleoclimatological approaches. Laura Brown, Igor Lehnherr and Trevor Porter lead the Arctic Research Group.
