Internship Opportunities Summer 2022

Internship projects are based on departmental needs and the strengths of the intern, so no two projects are alike. During the application process, you will be asked to select up to three departments you are interested in working with and pitch a project idea for each. Some departments have also proposed project ideas they are looking to be fulfilled.

Centre for Student Engagement - Accepting interns for Summer 2022

The Centre for Student Engagement is committed to facilitating student learning and development inside and outside of the classroom, on campus and in the local community. Through our programs, services, and resources, we provide opportunities that empower students to shape their own experience and contribute to their community.


Current Opportunities: 

SEE @ UTM Assessment Assistant 

Description: SEE @ UTM is a new access program and collaboration between the University of Toronto (U of T) and DPCDSB. The aim of the program is to encourage students (Black students) who come from communities historically underrepresented at U of T and post-secondary institutions to view post-secondary education as a viable destination. A feature of the program is participating in classes to earn a university credit, experiential learning and mentorship opportunities. The intern will help research the best assessment plan for this program providing valuable information about participant’s experience throughout the program.

Community Engagement Assistant

Description: Over 4 years, the Centre for Student Engagement has offered an asynchronous volunteer training available to volunteers to complete prior to their involvement in community engaged learning opportunities and international volunteer opportunities in the IEC. The intern will be reviewing feedback completed this past year of the training, and work towards updating the curriculum, establishing new learning goals and creating new modules based on student feedback.

Current Opportunities: 

Curriculum Development Specialist: Health & Education

Description: Reporting to the Supervisor, Residence Education, the Curriculum Development Specialist: Health & Education supports the Residence Education team in developing intentional ways of promoting and implementing this Living Learning Community. The incumbent will assist in developing materials relevant to this LLC such as facilitation guides and lesson planning. They will also sit on the Residence Curriculum Task Force and support the ongoing development of the residence curricular framework. The Health & Education Curriculum Development Specialist will also be a key component in taking on special projects as they relate to the Residence Education portfolios within Student Housing and Residence Life at UTM.

Pandemic Assessment Specialist 

Reporting to the Community Standards Officer (CSO), the Pandemic Assessment Specialist supports the CSO in developing intentional ways of assessing the experience of students that live in residence that were required to isolate or quarantine. The incumbent will identify areas of growth and learnings for the department as they move through the pandemic. This role will examine the isolation protocol models that have been used in comparison to other schools and provide a final report on cases, student numbers and financial impacts on the department. The incumbent will assist in developing a post pandemic plan, doing research on how to support first year students coming into residence after 2 challenging years and archive files used during the pandemic.
