In photos: UTM holds annual All-Nations Powwow

Vibrant colours and joyful dancing combined with moments of reflection and learning as the University of Toronto Mississauga held its third annual All-Nations Powwow. 

Dancers, drummers and singers celebrating Indigenous culture brought members of the community together for the event held on campus on Oct. 4. 

Attendees, from UTM and beyond, were able to observe a variety of dances and got the opportunity to join in during certain Intertribal dances as well. 

A vendors market featured Indigenous-owned businesses, while fire teachings were shared by a sacred fire outdoors during the afternoon. 

The event hosted by UTM’s Office of Indigenous Initiatives was held on Sisters in Spirit Day, which remembers, raises awareness of and calls for justice for missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls and Two-Spirit people.
