Do I receive credit for taking ISP100?
Yes! ISP100 provides 0.5 credits that can count toward the 20.0 credits you need to graduate. Please note that ISP100 can be used to quality for POSt, but it cannot be used to satisfy Distribution Requirements. For more information on distribution requirements, visit the Office of the Registrar.

How do I know if I have should take ISP010 before ISP100?
In the first week of ISP100, students will complete the Writing Check-In (WCI), a written assessment of students’ writing skills. The results of the Writing Check-In will help identify those students who would benefit from participating in ISP010: Basics of Writing in English. Any student who does not successfully pass the Writing Check-In should unenroll from ISP100 and consider enrolling in ISP010. Additionally, students who wish to improve their basic English writing skills should take ISP010 to develop their skills for university work.
I enrolled in ISP100 on ACORN, but the course appears with a status of INT. What does this mean?
This course will appear with a status of "INTerim". This is normal. Once ISUP has reviewed and approved your request, the status will then turn into approved. Students pursuing the programs that require ISP100 receive first priority to enroll in the course as it is required course for these programs.
The Writing Check-In (WCI) is a mandatory written assessment, designed to assess students' writing skills, for student intending to take ISP100. The WCI requires students to write one short essay in response to an academic article. It takes place during the first class of the semester and is graded on a pass/fail basis. Students must receive a passing grade in the WCI in order to remain in ISP100. Those who are unsuccessful in the WCI will be removed from ISP100 and encouraged to take ISP010: Basics of Writing in English. Therefore, is it essential that students enrolled in ISP100 attend the first class.
