“(RE)PRESENTING RELIGION IN SUPERHERO STORIES"

How do we know when something is or is not “religious”? How do we know the Star of David signifies Judaism, the cross Christianity, and the crescent Islam?

This panel will aim to address these questions through the seemingly-unrelated topic of superheroes in comic books. It will consist of a panel discussing some ways in which comic books can help us (both scholars and ministers-in-training) think about how we use the category “religion” and the social significance of such a designation. The panel will comprise of three presenters which are Chris Zeichmann, Ken Derry and Nathan Gibbard.

Please join us on Wednesday February 1st at Emmanuel College in room 107 from 4:00-6:00pm.

Refreshments will be provided!
