My research focuses on children’s exposure to air pollution and how it affects neurological development. Increasing evidence links air pollution exposure to impaired cognitive functioning. However, most of the research done within a Canadian context has focused on adult physical health outcomes. As a result, a research gap concerning the neurological risks of air pollution exposure in children exists. Children are highly susceptible to threats because they breathe more air per kg of body mass than adults, and their brains are in a critical development period. Currently, I am examining children’s exposure to air pollution during travel to and from school.
