Dr. Julie Goldenson is a clinical and forensic psychologist trained within a scientist–practitioner model, with nearly two decades of experience assessing and treating complex clinical and forensic populations. She is frequently retained as an expert in civil and criminal matters involving trauma-related conditions and regularly trains and supervises mental health professionals.

She is an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto (Ontario Institute for Studies in Education), where she serves as Chair of the Clinical and Counselling Psychology Program within the Department of Applied Psychology and Human Development. She also holds a cross-appointment with the University of Toronto Mississauga’s Institute of Forensic Science. At the doctoral level, she teaches psychological assessment, forensic psychology, diagnostic systems, and clinical supervision.

Dr. Goldenson is a member of the Program in Psychiatry and the Law at the Massachusetts Mental Health Center / Harvard Medical School and was the 2021 recipient of the Strasburger Award in recognition of her contributions to the program.

Her scholarship advances trauma-informed approaches to forensic assessment and practice, with particular attention to adverse childhood experiences, resilience, the rigorous evaluation of trauma-related claims, institutional abuse, feigned posttraumatic stress disorder, intimate partner violence, and female perpetration of violence. She has also contributed to scholarship on forensic supervision and consultation, emphasizing ethical and methodologically sound decision-making.

She serves as Section Editor for Psychological Injury and Law (Trauma-Informed and Culturally Responsive Forensic Practice) and is on the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Forensic Mental Health.
