Professor Anna Korteweg wins inaugural Jeannette Wright Award

Last month the Department created the Jeannette Wright Award for Graduate Mentoring. 

The first call for nominations has proven to be a success: many graduate students responded by nominating different faculty members. 
There can be no doubt that mentoring by a number of our faculty members is much appreciated and thus worthy of recognition. Hence, reaching a final decision was not easy.

Studying family dynamics in rural China has been a preoccupation for Professor Weiguo Zhang for the past twenty years, but working last year in this area with undergraduate students through the Research Opportunity Program (ROP) has served to further flame the passion he has for the topic more.
