Centre for Student Engagement

The Centre for Student Engagement is committed to facilitating student learning and development inside and outside of the classroom, on campus and in the local community. Through our programs, services, and resources, we provide opportunities that empower students to shape their own experience and contribute to their community.
Role: Community Engaged Learning Curriculum Intern
Term: Summer - May to August 2026 (Hybrid)

Description: As an intern with the Centre for Student Engagement, you’ll play a key role in reimagining our volunteer training by assessing existing e‑learning modules and transforming them into impactful, learner‑focused experiences. You’ll collaborate closely with our volunteer working group to integrate Community Engaged Learning theory and best practices that strengthen students’ readiness for meaningful community involvement. Throughout the internship, you’ll build practical skills in digital learning design, curriculum planning, and cross‑unit collaboration within a Student Affairs environment. You’ll come away with a strong understanding of volunteer‑based student engagement, a clearer sense of how Student Affairs & Services supports experiential learning, and concrete experience that will strengthen your pathway into the field.
Role: NEXUS Intern
Term: Summer - May to August 2026 (Hybrid)

Description: Join the tri-unit NEXUS Committee, representing the IEC, CSE, and SHRL, as our NEXUS Intern and help strengthen the unified training program used to prepare all student staff across these departments. In this role, you’ll revise and refresh the existing NEXUS 1.0 modules, develop new content where needed, and collaborate with campus partners to update and align their contributions. You’ll also support the launch of the NEXUS 2026 training in Quercus by August 1, 2026. This internship offers hands-on experience in e learning development, cross-departmental collaboration, and student staff training design, valuable skills for anyone interested in Student Affairs and student development.

Role: Communications Data Analyst Intern
Term: Summer - May to August 2026 (Hybrid)

Description: We are seeking a detail-oriented and curious Communications Data Analyst Intern to join our team. In this role, you will support the analysis of communication & recruitment strategies and campaigns by interpreting, and visualizing data to help improve engagement, messaging effectiveness, and audience reach. The successful candidate will provide suggestions for improving our recruitment and reach to international students. This role will report to the Residence Communications Officer.
Role: Residence Curriculum Development Intern
Term: Summer - May to August 2026 (Hybrid)

Description: Reporting to the Residence Education & Transition Coordinator (RETC), the Residence Curriculum Development Intern supports the planning, development, and assessment of intentional learning initiatives within Student Housing & Residence Life. This role will review facilitation guides, design content, refine future programming topics, and prepare educational resources. They will also sit on the Residence Curriculum Committee and support its ongoing development. The Curriculum Development Intern will also be a key component in taking on special projects as they relate to the Residence Education portfolios within Student Housing & Residence Life (SHRL) at UTM.
Role: Residence Living Learning Community Intern
Term: Summer - May to August 2026 (Hybrid)

Description: Reporting to the Residence Education & Learning Coordinator (RELC), the Residence Living Learning Community Intern aids the Residence Education team by supporting the preparation and development of Student Housing and Residence Life’s living-learning communities (LLCs). Focused on LLCs within residence, the incumbent will support the recruitment and selection of LLC students, along with planning intentional large-scale programming for LLC students, including Orientation and Faculty Experiences. Finally, they will support the development of specialized learning materials, including facilitation guides. They will also participate in the Residence Curriculum Committee to support learning in residence through ongoing developments of curriculum-based initiatives.
Role: Student Staff Training Intern
Term: Summer - May to August 2026 (Hybrid)
Application Deadline: Wednesday, April 1, 2026
Description: The Student Staff Training Intern will support the planning, delivery, and assessment of multiple training programs for Residence Student Staff within Student Housing & Residence Life (SHRL). This position will serve as a member of the Training Committee and will assist the committee chair with duties that directly impact the Residence Student Staff experience. The successful candidate will ensure that all student staff training is in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
