Michael Manley is the Manager, Finance and Research and Innovation Operations in the Office of the Vice-Principal, Research and Innovation. Michael plays a key role in ensuring successful financial stewardship and operational excellence within the OVPRI and, in so doing, provide critical support to the research and innovation enterprise at UTM.
Since joining the University of Toronto in 2016, Michael has occupied a number of increasingly senior positions that have supported the University’s research and innovation mission. He brings valuable experience from research-intensive environments, including the OVPRI at UTSC, the Department of Physics, and The Hospital for Sick Children.
Across the roles he has occupied, Michael has managed budgets for individual, team and collaborative research grants, core facilities, and operations, and has played a key role in developing budgets for externally sponsored funded programs, including the Canada Foundation for Innovation and the Canada Research Chairs program. He has also established a strong track record of standardizing processes and supporting effective financial, HR and operational practices across the University.
