The Science Building opened in July 2024. It provides much-needed wet laboratory space for the campus’s current and planned research needs.  It also provides a world class preclinical animal house.

  • ~90,000 sq ft lab space
  • ~110 chemistry 8 ft fume hoods
  • ~20-30 biosafety cabinets
  • ~5000 animal cages
  • ~micro MRI/CT imagers

The CMC is projected to grow to include approximately 130 graduate students, research associates and post-doctoral fellows. Other building occupants include the forensic sciences program and a high-performance computing data centre.

The new building, will continue the tradition of sustainability at UTM, is aiming for a minimum of Silver certification in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building certification process.
