Join us to celebrate the launch of the Syd Bolton Collection (the largest collection of video games in Canada) and the new Game Studies Minor in English & Drama and ICCIT.

The entire campus will be taken over by games!  You can find activities at the following locations: 

  1. Student Centre
    9:30am
    Opening Ceremony: Draw a Hopscotch Court
    Snacks (while supplies last): Hopscotch Bars and Squares, Caramel Coffee and Whipped Cream
     

  2. Kaneff Centre 
    10am-3pm
    Bouncy Castle and Inflatable Obstacle Course

  3. Deerfield Hall (inside entrance to Deerfield)
    10am-3pm
    Storytelling Game 
    Snacks (while supplies last): Veggie & dip cups, veggie chicken fingers
     

  4. Maanjiwe nendamowinan 
    10am-3pm
    Competitive Video Game Play (Grand Hall)
    Snacks (while supplies last): Mario-themed cupcakes, candy and trail mix, lemonade and fruit drinks

    10am-3pm
    Giant Jenga (on mats, next to the Grand Hall)
    Snacks (while supplies last): Hot chocolate bar with toppings

    10am-3pm
    Video Game Music & Food Chill Zone (CDRS: MN 3230)
    Snacks (while supplies last): Three-layered salsa with nachos, donuts and churros, tea and coffee
     

  5. CCT Building
    10am-3pm
    Tabletop Games and RPG Café (CCT Atrium)
    Snacks (while supplies last): Candy and trail mix, cans of pop

    10am-3pm
    Game Play-Alongs with Profs and Experts (MiST)
    1-2pm: Alex Ross (PhD Candidate at the iSchool, and researcher on games and gambling), "Adventures in Doom Modding" 
    2-3pm: Felan Parker (Associate Professor, Book and Media Studies, St Michael's), "Untitled Goose Game and Finding the Goose in You"

  6. Hazel McCallion Academic Learning Centre
    UTM Library, 1st Floor
    3pm-6pm
    Bolton Collection Launch: Symposium and Reception
    *Register on Eventbrite

  7. Campus-wide Alternate Reality Game (ARG)
    10am-3pm
    Look for four building signs with a QR code and use the free Adobe Aero app to unlock riddles. Bring correct answers for all four riddles to the entrance of the UTM Library between 2:30 and 3pm. The first three successful players will win a prize.

 

No registration necessary. Games can be played on a drop-in basis.
