Class of 2020: Eduardo Ibarra Cervantes

Eduardo Ibarra Cervantes

Name: Eduardo Ibarra Cervantes

Program: Commerce (Accounting Specialist, Economics Major)

Country and City of Origin: Mexico City, Mexico

Post-Graduation Plans: Pursuing a Masters in Management and Professional Accounting (MMPA). I would like to earn the CPA designation and build a career in Public Accounting.

Most memorable time at UTM: Becoming a Don was a life-changing experience. I got the opportunity to work with amazing people and learn so much from them. It was full of challenges and rewarding experiences; it helped enrich my undergraduate experience. It also made me realize how proud I am to belong in such an amazing community and campus.

The most important thing I learned at UTM: That life is full of challenges and we need to put in the work, leave excuses behind and really focus on your goals. I learned this is best done while also balancing a healthy social life, playing sports, and exercising. Most of all, I learned it is important to really enjoy the present moment. Every year was different, but it only got better, we need to look at life this way. Always have a positive mindset and look for the bright side.

Inspirational message: I think that as difficult as this global pandemic has been, and will continue to be, we will remember this as something that only made us stronger. We will tell our grandchildren about the things we learned, how we should never forget that life is fragile and that we must not forget what truly is important to us. Our professional careers will continue, we will find jobs, we will be successful, and we will be very proud to be the graduating class of 2020 because we went through very difficult times and despite the challenges, we grew into better people who now have all our lives ahead of us. Let us be patient, optimistic, and prepare ourselves for what is to come.
