About Me
I believe in continuous learning, regardless of the setting. As a firm believer that academics are only part of a holistic education, I strive to understand the world around me through the meaningful engagement and understanding of all experiences I come across. During my time at UTM I learned the skills I needed to view the world through this lens, but it was only after I graduated that I learned how to harness it to my benefit. Data Analytics is my bread and Data Governance is my butter. I didn’t learn these things at UTM, but I got them because of my experience there!
It is because of this that I chose to become a Mentor. While I work in Finance, my line of work is such that my skills are highly sought-after and transferable. I previously worked in Retail and Technology. My mentee and I will work towards achieving that agility for their career as well, no matter what you studied in school (hint: ask more of “Why” and less of “What”). I hope I can help them develop the confidence needed to succeed in the workplace and for them to see things in a positive light. I was not active in student clubs at UTM and I did not have a perfect GPA upon graduating, so I understand how difficult it is to find that first job or even get an acknowledgement regarding an application. I want to do what I can to assist with the process and hopefully help my mentee use the experience to learn and grow.
I migrated from the Philippines halfway through high school. I am sure anyone would agree that that is one of the worst times in your life to start anew, and I was put in a position to develop tenacity earlier in life than some. In my spare time I like watching and playing basketball, reviewing every restaurant I visit on Google Maps and going down the path towards becoming an amateur pianist.
