I’m excited to engage with my mentee and find out about who they are and their career interests, and what is happening in post-secondary education today.
I’ve been in the public service for 19 years serving MInistries in the Government of Ontario. I can offer advice on what public servants do to support government decision-making and what skills and knowledge we are looking for in policy/program roles.

Experience
- In Ziyaad’s current role, he leads a team of managers and professionals in the development of policy and programs to support children with special needs. Directors also have a key role in working with political staff to ensure that government decisions are based on the best evidence and research and is implemented effectively.
- Prior to this role, Ziyaad worked for the Ontario Cabinet Office as a senior manager. In this role he provided non-political strategic advice, analysis, and operational support to the Secretary of Cabinet (head of the Ontario Public Service), Cabinet and its committees and the Premier's Office to assist the government in delivering on its priorities.
- Ziyaad has also held roles with the Ontario Ministry of Education, Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Ministry of Colleges and Universities
